Fexofenadine 180mg is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, sneezing, hives, and itching. It works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) that your body makes during an allergic reaction.
How to use fexofenadine 180mg
If you are self-treating with an over-the-counter remedy, read all guidelines on the product package before taking this medication. If you have any questions, speak with your chemist. If your doctor has ordered this medication, take it as indicated, usually twice daily (every 12 hours).
If you are taking this medication in liquid form, shake the bottle thoroughly before each dose and precisely measure the dose using a specific measuring device/spoon. If you use a regular spoon, you may not get the exact dose. Take this medication in tablet/capsule or liquid form with or without food. Take the rapidly dissolving tablet on an empty stomach if you use it. Allow the fast-dissolving tablet to dissolve on the tongue before swallowing it with or without water. Remove the tablet from the blister pack only just before using it.
If you need a liquid to take this medication (for example, while taking tablets/capsules), take it with water. Avoid taking this medication with fruit juices (such as apple, grapefruit, or orange), since they may reduce absorption.
The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, and response to treatment. Do not increase your dose or take this medication more often than directed.
Do not take antacids containing aluminum and magnesium within 2 hours of taking this medication. These antacids can decrease the absorption of fexofenadine.
If your condition does not improve or worsens, notify your doctor. This medicine may cause erroneous test results in certain lab tests (such as allergy skin testing). Make sure lab personnel and all of your doctors are aware that you are taking this medication.
